GRAND ROUNDS is a forum for the publishing of case reports that offer new information to the medical community as a whole. All articles are freely available worldwide: there is no subscription.
Accepted authors pay a fee of £149 to cover the cost of production (one fee per article) via credit card on our secure server – please see the link below and at the bottom of the page. (The £GBP Sterling price is definitive, the US$, Euros€ price may vary).
Submission is online using an electronic manuscript tracking system called Editorial Manager which is used by many other publishers. The system is easy to use and there are online instructions. Click the 'Submit a Report' icon to the right of your screen to submit your article.
In case of difficulty please e-mail the Journals Publishing Manager at marie.bardsley@e-med.org.uk stating the problem clearly.
As a guideline, articles should contain approximately up to 1500 words, four figures, and twenty references and be structured in the following format:
References must include current clinical evidence. Citations must be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are mentioned in the text. The numbers should be in square brackets, superscript and come before any punctuation. The reference list should be prepared in Vancouver style. The abbreviations used for the periodicals cited in the reference list should follow the style of Index Medicus.
For journal articles list the surnames and initials of all authors when there are three or less. If there are more than six authors, list the first three followed by et al. For example,
Harries SR, Fox BM, Williams MP. Nephrostomy failure due to tumour lysis syndrome. Clin Radiol 2000; 55: 152 – 4.
For online articles the volume, issue, and page number can be replaced by the Digital Object Identifier (DOI), which is usually at the top of the article. Therefore, the same example as above would be formatted as:
Harries SR, Fox BM, Williams MP. Nephrostomy failure due to tumour lysis syndrome. Clin Radiol doi:10.1053/crad.1999.0071.
Or all details may be given:
Harries SR, Fox BM, Williams MP. Nephrostomy failure due to tumour lysis syndrome. Clin Radiol 2000; 55: 152, doi: 10.1053/crad.1999.0071.
Radiation measurements and laboratory values should be given in the International System of Units (SI). A full list of these can be found at http://physics.nist.gov/cuu/Units/
The consent of the patient(s) should be obtained. All information that would permit identification of the patient should be removed. The consent form should be signed by the patient and either scanned in and sent with the manuscript as an email enclosure. No consent is required should the patient be deceased.
