Troubleshooting Guide
The articles within this site are presented
as Adobe Acrobat documents (also known as PDF files). In
order to be able to read them you need to have a piece of free
software loaded called the Acrobat Reader. Basically if you can't
read the articles then the most likely cause is that your computer
doesn't have the Acrobat Reader installed. To remedy this is a
fairly simple step and instructions are given further down this
page.
Probable Symptoms
In trying to reproduce the problem ourselves
we have found the following symptoms likely when you click on
the actual link for the article:
1. Internet Explorer users
An "Open With" message box is displayed
asking you which program you want to use to open the file, together
with a list of possible programs.
2. Netscape Navigator users
An "Unknown File Type" message box
appears telling you that you have started to download a file of
type application/pdf.
In either case press the Cancel button and follow
the instructions below.
Remedy
To view the articles you will need to install
the Acrobat Reader. To do this click on the Acrobat icon below.
This will take you to the correct page of the Adobe website. Follow
the instructions and this will automatically install the software
for you. When this is completed you will be able to read the PDF
files correctly.

NB An alternate source of problem might
possibly be that you have a very early version of the Acrobat
Reader (it has been around for some time now). If this is the
case then again click on the link as it will allow you to get
the latest version.
